The private part
stays on your computer.
DRAGEN is software you run on your own computer, not a website you upload records to. DRAGENAudit sends nothing anywhere, and uses no AI. DRAGENFlow's sorting and drafting run only on your computer, on a standard network setup.
This page says exactly what that means for each product, in plain words, including the parts that do use the internet.
The short version
Six things that are true of all of it.
It runs on your computer.
You download a program. There is no DRAGEN server holding your records and no DRAGEN account to sign in to.
The AI runs there too.
DRAGENFlow's sorting and drafting are done by an AI model installed on your machine. DRAGENAudit uses no AI at all. The optional “Hey DRAGEN” helper is different, and is explained below.
Nothing sends itself.
No DRAGEN product sends email. Drafts wait in your Drafts folder until a person clicks Send, and there is no setting that changes that.
A person has the final say.
The teacher or clinician reviews every draft, every finding and every grade. DRAGEN suggests. People decide.
The software never sends us your data.
DRAGEN LLC gets none of it from the software. There is no telemetry, and your license is checked offline, on your own computer, with no activation server. A chart review or a setup on your real data is by arrangement only, once the paperwork is in place.
It labels. It moves nothing.
DRAGENFlow labels messages on your computer. It moves nothing in your Outlook. Reading a message does mark it as read, the same as when you open it.
Product by product
What touches the internet, and what never does.
The products work differently, so the honest answer is different for each one.

- Opens no network connection. It reads your billing export, does the arithmetic and writes the report, all on your computer. Unplug the network cable and it still works. No AI model touches a number. About DRAGENAudit
- DRAGENFlow
- Reads your mail where it already lives. It opens your own
Outlook on the web in a browser window signed in as you, so that part uses the
internet, the same way you do when you check your mail. The AI that sorts and
drafts runs on your computer, and the drafts go back into your own Outlook
Drafts folder. It installs per person, so each person's mail stays with that
person.
The daily run talks only to your Outlook and the AI on your own computer: every sort and every draft is written by the AI on your computer. On a school or district network that routes traffic through a proxy, ask us first; a fix for that is in progress. The optional “Hey DRAGEN” helper below is separate from the daily run.
Installing it downloads the AI model and the parts it needs, about 5 GB. Nothing of yours is uploaded to do that. About DRAGENFlow - DRAGENGrade
- In development, and built to stay local. Grading is being built to run on the AI model on the school's own computer, on a standard network setup, and to stop and say so if that model cannot be reached rather than look elsewhere. The teacher approves every grade. About DRAGENGrade
- “Hey DRAGEN” helper
- Optional, and it can use an outside AI. The helper takes requests like “Hey DRAGEN, clean up my emails”. If an outside AI account is installed on the computer (Anthropic’s Claude, or OpenAI’s Codex as a backup), the helper can send requests to that service through that account. You don't need the helper to use any DRAGEN product.
- This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no forms. Every font, image and script on this site comes from this site, and its one script, the menu button, collects nothing. Nothing is loaded from Google or any other outside company. Like every website, the company that hosts it (Cloudflare Pages) sees visitors' IP addresses. Email to chase@dragen.cloud is handled by an ordinary mail provider (Zoho), like any email. Some pages link to an outside booking calendar or a hardware maker's site; clicking those takes you to their own site.
Student and client records
Built for FERPA- and HIPAA-sensitive work.
Schools and clinics hold information about children and families. DRAGEN is built for that kind of work: DRAGENAudit sends nothing anywhere, DRAGENFlow's sorting and drafting run only on your computer, and DRAGEN LLC holds none of your data.
No badges, no seals. DRAGEN does not claim to be “HIPAA certified” or “FERPA compliant”. What it does claim is exact, and set out product by product above.
And please keep student and client details out of a first email. Ordinary email is not a secure channel. The contact page explains what to send instead.
A positive use of AI
AI that gives time back, and knows its place.
AI is good at the sorting and drafting that eat an evening. It is not something to trust blindly. So DRAGEN uses it for the first job and never the second.
It gives time back.
The inbox gets sorted and the first drafts get written, so teachers and clinicians spend their time on students and clients instead.
It shows its reasons.
DRAGENGrade is being built to quote the student's own words for every score it suggests, so a teacher can check the reason in seconds.
It does not guess at numbers.
In DRAGENAudit no AI model touches a figure. Every minute and unit figure is arithmetic you can redo by hand.
It shows what it skipped.
A row it cannot read is listed as not scored, by row number. Check that list before you rely on a month's result.
It checks itself first.
DRAGENFlow checks itself before every run, and refuses to run if that check fails.
It never has the last word.
Every draft, finding and grade waits for a person. That is how it is built, not a setting you have to find.
